Factors to consider when undertaking an ediscovery vendor analysis
If your firm is intending to procure some form of ediscovery application, it is important to take a look at some of the factors that are most often discussed during ediscovery vendor evaluations. Although there are not that many published ediscovery software reviews, you can still ensure that you focus on the correct criteria when undertaking the evaluation. Some of the functional factors that you need to consider include the vendor’s other products and services, the full feature set of the product or application suite and whether any form of integration is required, and whether the vendor owns all of its code base, or uses some other third party code that may be licensed through OEM agreements. On the non functional aspects, the following vendor suitability criteria should also be considered. An analysis of the vendor’s financial health, and stability, other vendor implementations that have been undertaken, the vendor’s R&D capacity and whether the product has become an end-of-life solution or is continually being updated, should be considered. Obviously pricing would be a major factor to consider, but make sure that you are comparing on a like for like basis. Some vendor quotes may not include support, or may be too inflexible for your needs. Make sure you undertake a full due diligence on the vendor before making that ediscovery purchasing decision.
